Poppy Lee Friar

Poppy is currently starring in the BBC's DOMINO DAY produced by Dancing Ledge. This continues her ever-successful relationship with the BBC following her lead role in LIFE AND DEATH IN THE WAREHOUSE for BBC Three which is up for an International Emmy. She can also be seen playing ‘Lydia’ in the second series of BAFTA-Cymru Award-winning IN MY SKIN on BBC Two and the adaptation of Kit de Waal’s debut novel MY NAME IS LEON for BBC One.

Last year, Poppy played 'Mayella Ewell' in Aaron Sorkin's adaptation of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD directed by Bartlett Sher for the Gielgud Theatre. Poppy is perhaps best known for her lead regular role of ‘Missy’ in “Channel 4’s highest youth-skewing drama since This is England” (The Guardian), ACKLEY BRIDGE for which she won Best Actor at the Royal Television Society Yorkshire Awards. Further notable credits for screen include Fox Searchlight’s acclaimed adaptation of MY COUSIN RACHEL with Sam Claflin and Rachel Wiesz, the portrayal of ‘Jayne Torvill’ in ITV drama TORVILL AND DEAN - the story of the infamous ice-skating duo, the titular role in the CBBC sci-fi series EVE for which she received a British Academy Children’s Awards nomination, IN THE CLUB (BBC), THE SYNDICATE (BBC) and MR SELFRIDGE (ITV/PBS).
