Oliver Chris

Oliver Chris is a London-based actor and writer whose work encompasses stage, television, and film. He has most recently finished filming a series regular role in television series RIVALS for Disney+ and can currently be seen playing FREDDIE in Terence Rattigan’s THE DEEP BLUE SEA alongside Tamsyn Greig at Theatre Royal Bath.

A veteran of London theatre, his list of credits include KING CHARLES III (Almeida Theatre, West End, Broadway), ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS (National Theatre, West End, Broadway) for which he was nominated for an Olivier Award. At the National Theatre he has also appeared in SEASON’S GREATINGS, GREAT BRITAIN and TWELFTH NIGHT. In 2019, he starred in Nicholas Hytner’s hit adaptation of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM at The Bridge Theatre.

Oliver began his television career in Ricky Gervais’ seminal series THE OFFICE and has since appeared in many cult comedies including NATHAN BARLEY, THE IT CROWD, and GREEN WING. He recurs in the BAFTA-winning BBC comedy MOTHERLAND created by Sharon Horgan, as ‘Freddy’ in Apple TV’s TRYING, A VERY BRITISH SCANDAL, and hit PBS drama MISS SCARLET & THE DUKE. He can currently be seen in the fifth season of Peter Morgan’s legacy series THE CROWN on Netflix, Apple TV’S science fiction series FOUNDATION, and ITV medical drama MATERNAL.
 
Recent film credits include Oscar-nominated LIVING, Working Title’s romantic comedy WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?, Autumn de Wilde’s 2020 adaptation of EMMA, and MISS MARX which premiered at Venice Film Festival in 2020. He can next be seen in Michael Winterbottom’s upcoming SHOSHANA.

Alongside his acting career, Oliver is also a writer. In 2022, his play JACK ABSOLUTE FLIES AGAIN opened at The National to some tremendous reviews including Variety and The Times.
