Judy Parfitt

Judy recently wrapped on the 13th series of BBC's CALL THE MIDWIFE as Sister Monica Joan.

She made her stage debut with FOOLS RUSH IN in 1954 and gained widespread recognition for her role as Gertrude in HAMLET alongside Anthony Hopkins. Other notable stage credits include REALLY OLD, LIKE FORTY FIVE and THERESE RAQUIN at the National Theatre, NIGHT MUST FALL Broadway, New York and AN INSPECTOR CALLS at the Aldwych Theatre.
 
Judy made her Hollywood debut alongside Kathy Bates in DOLORES CLAIBOURNE and has since gone on to star in Madonna’s W.E, with Stephen Fry in WILDE and alongside Colin Firth and Scarlett Johansson in THE GIRL WITH THE PEARL EARRING, for which she received the BAFTA nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2004.
 
Judy has also forged a successful television career and received a BAFTA television nomination in 1983 for her role as Mildred Layton in THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN. More recently, Judy has been seen in THE BLEAK LITTLE SHOP OF STUFF, VERA, JONATHAN CREEK, JUST WILLIAM and MARPLE: GREENSHAW'S FOLLY.
