This year sees HELEN MONKS, star of RAISED BY WOLVES and UPSTART CROW, in Edinburgh with her debut one-woman show ‘DOLLY WANTS TO DIE’. A finalist in The Funny Women Awards of last year, her new show is set to wow audiences. Expect “offbeat comedy – through music, storytelling and stand-up as Dolly explores the peril of entering adulthood and the absolute ball ache of being alive”. Also returning to the FRINGE is Canadian Comic JOHN HASTINGS with his fifth fringe show INTEGRITY. With several awards under his belt, including winner of COCA Comedian of The Year and The Amused Moose Best Show Award Nominee, John has been pinned as ‘one to watch’ by The Comedy Network in 2016. Catch his show at The Pleasance Courtyard, 9.30pm.
Joining them are female fringe favourites LAZY SUSAN. Nominated for the Best Newcomer Award, this popular duo have been described as “a riot from start to finish… Lazy Susan are so on top of their game” (the Skinny) and “A comic gem… Finely tuned writing. Full of heart and humour” (three weeks) Catch our wonderfully talented Geordie Girl FREYA PARKER as one half of LAZY SUSAN in this year’s CRAZY, SEXY, COOL at the The Pleasance Courtyard, 19.15.
Last but not least is Aussie born stand up and award winning writer DEBORAH FRANCIS-WHITE. She has performed stand up all over the world and is a FRINGE regular. This year she received the prestigious Writers' Guild Award for Best Radio Comedy for her hit BBC Radio 4 series ‘Deborah Frances-White Rolls the Dice’. Deborah can be seen alongside Sophie Hagan hosting the popular podcast THE GULITY FEMINIST with special guests at The Gilded Balloon, 4pm.
